Talvez o último desta estação! talvez... feito com um pequeno quadrado de crochet muito antigo e um pouco estragado.

Maybe the last of this season! maybe... done with a small square of very old crochet and a little destroyed.

É a primeira vez que tento o ponto frouxo* ou ponto de Castelo Branco. (náo é fácil)
Aproveitei a experiência para fazer um porta-agulhas.

Pincushion made from scraps / almofada para alfinetes feita de sobras

Nunca tinha feito nada assim. Nem sequer tenho o material necessário como missangas, conchas etc.. Foi feito aos soluços e com restos de tudo e nada.
Definitivamente não tenho jeito para o chamado "crasy quilt".

I've never made anything like this. I even haven't the required stuff like beads, shells and so on. It was made bit by bit and with scraps of everything.
Definitely I'm not handy at "crasy quilt"


Usei o tutorial da Lisa do blogue Ivory Blush Roses , utilizando dois CDs daqueles que vão para o lixo. Já agora vejam as diferenças... ! A almofada da Lisa é uma pequena maravilha do que ela faz.

I followed Lisa's tutorial from Ivory Blush Roses, made with two CDs, those which usually run to waste.
At this time find the differences... ! Lisa's pincushion is a little beauty of what she does.

Tabuleiro multiusos / Multiuse tray

Este tabuleiro é ideal para trabalhar no computador, ler ou tomar um café/chá no sofá.

Vai ter muito uso, com certeza!

This tray is great to work with a laptop, read or drink a coffe/tea sat on a sofa.

Quando tenho as netas por perto só posso fazer bordados muito simples.

Logo que vi este tutorial da Nikki pensei logo em aproveitar estes dois bordados inspirados em bordados tradicionais portugueses.

If I have my grandaughters around I just can make easy embroidery.

As soon I saw this Nikki's tutorial I thought of these two embroideries inspired on Portuguese embroidery to make similar purses.

Artesanato fácil / Easy craftwork

Nos dias que passei fora de casa não tive oportunidade de bordar. Os bordados que estou a fazer requerem atenção que não lhes podia dar. Optei por fazer um trabalho mais fácil e mecânico.

Those days I was off I hadn't the opportunity to embroider. The embroideries I'm doing apply attention I wasn't able to do. I choose to do something easier and mechanical.Sacos para compras em crochet. No primeiro segui, rigorosamente, este tutorial. Nos outros dois fiz mais uma volta no final, para reforçar as alças.

É muito fácil e rápido de fazer.

Crocheted shopping bags. The first one was made strictly following this tutorial. In the others I've made one more round at the end to thicken the handles.

It's very easy and fast to do.

Schwalm Whitework III (update)

Como previ, tive dificuldades com os pontos de fundo por causa do tipo de linho que estava a usar.
A simpática Luzine Heppel (autora do livro Basic Principles of Schwalm Whitework *) leu o que escrevi e enviou-me um e-mail aconselhando-me trocas na escolha dos pontos de fundo, ajustando-as ao linho.

Conselhos preciosos!!!

As expected I found troubles with filling stitches because the linen I was using.

Luzine Heppel (who wrote Basic Principles of Schwalm Whitework * ) read my post and gently sent me an e-mail advising some changes in the pattern options of filling stitches.

Now, guess what I found in my mailbox three days later!

Nothing else but a package with linen with the printed design on the fabric (now I've some advantage,haven't I Mary?), as recommended in Luzine's book! And all the threads for the embroidery!!!

Claro que não resisti e comecei logo a bordar neste linho. É totalmente diferente, achei muito mais fácil e progredi muito mais rapidamente.

Of course I couldn't resist and start embroidering this linen. It's absolutly different and found out much easier. I've made progress much faster.

Por várias razões tive que interromper este trabalho, mas estou pronta a continuá-lo.

For several reasons I had to stop this work but now I'm ready to go on with it.

Também estou preparada para seguir um dos conselhos importantes do livro: fazer pequenas amostras dos pontos. No meu caso, especialmente dos pontos de fundo. E já tenho linho preparado para isso.

I'm also ready to follow one important advise in her book: to make little stitch samplers, in my case particularly the filling stitches. And I've already linen to do that.

I'm lucky!

I've not planned this break. Better saying, I knew I would be off for some days and I had planned some single posts to edit. But things run in a different way.

One of the best things that happened to me those days was being the lucky winner of a Mary Corbet's giveaway. But even better was to read Mary's words !

I've already been touched with some (not much) virtual friendships (despite my English) but this is a special Friendship surely!

Thanks so much, Mary, for EVERYTHING!

Não programei esta pausa. Ou melhor, sabia que iria estar uns dias fora de casa e tinha programado alguns posts para publicar. Mas as coisas correram de outra forma.

Uma das melhores coisas que me aconteceram nestes dias foi ter ganho um sorteio que a Mary Corbet fez. E ainda melhor foi ler as palavras da Mary, quando anunciou quem venceu o sorteio!
Já algumas vezes me tenho comovido com amizades virtuais e, seguramente, esta foi mais uma!

Outono/ Inverno Autumn/ Winter

Comecei a cortar feltro, usando um CD como molde. Vou tentar fazer algumas experiências.

I start cutting felt with a CD as pattern. I'll try doing some testings.

Por isso fiquei com bastante feltro recortado. Enquanto via tv, comecei a coser a ver o que dava.

So I was the owner of lots of felt scraps. While watching tv I began stitching those scraps.

E deu isto. Ficam umas flores um tanto tolas, umas mais engraçadas que outras. Tanto se pode pôr um fecho para broche como um gancho ou elástico para cabelo.

And here the result. Silly flowers, some funny other not so. They can be used as brooch or with hair clip or elastic.

Por todo o lado tenho papéis soltos com nomes de pontos de bordar em inglês, francês, italiano e português, claro; revistas e livros com rabiscos a lápis. E há muito tempo que ando a passar tudo para o computador.
Comecei por fazer uma folha em Word. Agora, aos poucos, estou a passar para Excel, porque me parece ser muito mais fácil o alinhamento. Espero que também seja fácil passar as imagens.
Agora reparo que também seria interessante juntar o alemão, mas para isso precisaria de muita ajuda - não tenho revistas nem livros de bordados em alemão. Só mesmo os vulgares dicionários que são de pouca ajuda para traduzir pontos de bordar!

É para se ir fazendo...

I have everywhere papers with the stitch names in English, French, Italien and Portuguese, of course; magazines and books with pencil scribbles. A while ago I began transferring everything to the computer.
I've begun with a Word sheet. Now I'm transferring to Excel bit by bit. It is much easier for the alignment. Hope it'll be easy to attach images too.
Now I'm wondering it should be great to add German/Deutsh, but here I would need a lot of help - I have no magazines or books in Deutsh. Only the common dictionaries which are a little help with translation of embroidery stitch names!

This is another work in progress...

Ando às voltas com hidrângeas/hortênsias. Usei fios diferentes, juntei-os umas vezes, outras não.

I'm embroidering hydrangeas/hortensias. I've used different threads, sometimes joined them and sometimes not.

Para já, mais uma almofada para alfinetes feita.

Seeing that, a pincushion is done.

Looking at this I feel the influence of Karen Ruan.

I wish my french knots were as neat as hers...

A almofada para alfinetes está feita e o estojo restaurado. A entretela não é ainda a ideal, mas está melhor. O porta-agulhas do post anterior também é teu.

Pincushion is made and set repaired. The interlining isn't ideal yet, but is better. The needle-book from former post is yours too.

Schwalm Whitework (II)

Mary Corbet was absolutely correct when had referred to this book as the definitive guide to learning Schwalm embroidery. I've written about Luzine Happel's book a while ago.
It is really so easy to follow the step-by-step instructions, even for a beginner like me!
I have to confess that what attracted me was to see all the filling patterns the book has. Here in Portugal we have lots of embroideries with those filling patterns but I've never found a book or even a magazine that really teaches how to do.


Mary Corbet estava completamente certa quando referiu este livro como o guia definitivo para aprender o bordado Schwalm. Há algum tempo escrevi sobre o livro da Luzine Happel.
É realmente fácil seguir as instruções passo a passo, mesmo para uma principiante como eu!.
Confesso que o que me atraiu foi a quantidade de padrões de pontos de fundo e de crivos que o livro tem. Nós, aqui em Portugal, temos imensos imensos bordados com estes pontos, mas nunca encontrei um livro ou revista que ensine como fazê-los.

I've made some progress in my sampler. I'm not embroidering the complete pattern and not using the suitable linen.

Fiz algum progresso no bordado, que não estou a fazer completo e não no linho apropriado.

I'm not quite happy with my leaves.

Now I'm going to begin the filling patterns. And here I'm sure I'll have to support the consequences of not using the correct linen. It's missing three lines of withdrawn threads...

Há algum tempo a Mary Corbet, sempre ela!, mostrou-nos um livro intitulado Basic Principles of Schwalm Whitework de Luzine Happel. E fê-lo de tal forma que fiquei muito interessada. Vale mesmo a pena ler este post da Mary. Fiquei a saber que o livro é o passo a passo deste tipo de bordado. Joey Colbert, que escreveu uma introdução desta versão inglesa (a versão original é em alemão), tem um comentário no post com o endereço electrónico da Luzine Happel.
Não perdi tempo e encomendei o livro, que rapidamente me chegou às mãos.
Luzine é uma muito simpática. Trocámos algumas mensagens acerca de bordados, éclaro!
O livro é tão fascinante que não resisti, mesmo sem ter o linho adequado, e comecei um lado do desenho

Some time ago Mary Corbet, she always!, showed the book Basic Principles of Schwalm Whitework de Luzine Happel. And she did it in such a way that I was very interested. Mary's post is worth to read. It's really an illustrated guide with step-by-step instructions. Joey Colbert, who wrote the introdution of this English version of the book (the original version is in German), has a comment with Luzine's e-mail.
I ordered the book and quickly I had the book in my hands.
Luzine is very very nice. We've changed some messages about embroidery of course!
The book is so fascinating that I couldn't resist and even without the proper linen I began one side of the pattern.

Two days ago Mary Corbert wrote about her project in Schwalwork she has already begun too. Now it's my turn to show what I've already done.

I have to be more perfect in these tendrils.

Fiz a transferência do desenho com o iron-on pencil, mas o desenho desaparece em alguns pontos. À Mary sucedeu o mesmo, embora tenha usado watercolor pencil. Já trocámos mensagens sobre isso e também sobre o não uso do bastidor.

I've made the transfer of the design with iron-on pencil, but the pattern tend to disapear due to the touching the fabric. It has happened the same to Mary, though she had used watercolor pencil. We have changed some messages about this and about not using the hoop too.

We can see some faults... This is a best angle.
